The Executive

Orange County, CA
Age(s): David (44) Sarah (41)

David and Sarah have 4 kids, ages 15, 12, 10, and 7. Sarah is a stay-at-home mom and David is the CEO of a healthcare company.

Background

David and Sarah have 4 kids, ages 15, 12, 10, and 7. Sarah is a stay-at-home mom and David is the CEO of a healthcare company. As a CEO, David is a highly compensated employee with a complex benefits package including a 401k, deferred compensation plan, equity compensation, health insurance, and a wide range of ancillary benefits. He also has an incentive pay structure that includes bonuses based on company performance.

They attend a local church regularly and are passionate about economic development and relieving poverty around the world.

The Problem

Many of David’s peers have less time for family and are more stressed and busier than ever before in spite of being wealthier and more “successful” than ever before. They often use what little free time they have to manage their own complicated investments and financial strategies, further taking time away from their families and passions.

“Does it really need to be so complicated?” The Turners regularly lamented to one another, “I don’t want to spend all of my free time managing our finances.”

David and Sarah feel comfortable financially but would like for David to be more present with the family. As a result, they want to learn what the Bible teaches about work, rest, and finances so they can build healthy rhythms for their family. They also want to avoid many of the traps they have seen their peers fall into and want someone they trust to guide them.

The Solution

David and Sarah began working with a Certified Kingdom Advisor at Peak Financial Management. With the help of their CKA© David and Sarah…

  1. Clarified their values and goals as a family.
  2. Discussed biblical principles of work, rest, retirement, and finance and their CKA© shared resources that inspired and helped them to live out these principles.
  3. Organized their finances in alignment with their values and goals and outsourced some of the practical/administrative burden of managing money to their CKA© to free up time.

The Results

Understanding what the Bible teaches about work and rest empowered David and Sarah to not only create intentional, healthy rhythms for their family, but also create a thriving culture at David’s company, resulting in lower turnover and higher employee satisfaction.

They had more time to spend as a family because they were able to outsource practical aspects of managing money to their CKA©.

As a part of their plan, their CKA© helped them create a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) that allowed them to support economic development around the world through both charitable grants and impact investments.

It also relieved financial stress knowing that they had a plan that aligned with their values and a guide to walk alongside them.
